What we handle, who we work with, and how we keep your project on track

If you need more info on the plumbing side of bathroom plumbing renovations, we have the answers.

If you would rather skip the reading and have a quick chat about your project, give us a call and we will book an on-site consultation and arrange a tailored quote.

Partial, major or commercial: which tier fits your project?

A partial renovation usually means a fixture and tapware refresh, like a new mixer tap, a new shower head, a vanity swap, or a like-for-like toilet replacement.

A major or full renovation usually involves a new layout, new pipework and new fixtures throughout.

For homeowners, our residential plumbing service is the right starting point.

For cafes, offices and other commercial bathrooms, see our commercial plumbing service.

For strata buildings, we handle ongoing renovation work through body corporate plumbing.

What we handle on the plumbing side

Our scope on a bathroom reno covers:

  • tapware and mixer taps
  • shower mixers and shower heads
  • bath and shower install or replacement
  • toilet install or replacement (including in-wall and concealed cisterns)
  • vanity and basin install with the waste pipework aligned to the new cabinetry
  • relocating water and waste lines for layout changes
  • new hot and cold supply runs
  • hot water system upgrades to suit the new bathroom, drainage and floor waste positioning
  • pre-tile rough-in and post-tile fit-off

We do the plumbing side of the project and work alongside builders, tilers, waterproofers and electricians as needed.

Why involve us early, and how we work with your builder

Bringing a plumber in at the planning stage tends to save the most time and money.

We can confirm what your existing pipe layout will support, flag fixtures that may not work cleanly with your supply or drainage, and head off the kind of mid-project surprises that cause redesigns once tiles are off the floor.

If you are working with a builder, designer or other trades, we coordinate from rough-in through to fit-off, and we are used to talking directly with your project lead through our builders plumbing service.

Choosing tapware, fixtures and water-efficient options

The fixtures and tapware you pick affect how the bathroom performs every day, especially when it comes to water pressure, flow, and how easy parts are to service in the future.

We are happy to advise on what will integrate cleanly with your home’s existing setup, and to recommend WELS-rated water-efficient options where it makes sense for running cost and council compliance.

We can supply and install fixtures, or fit fixtures you have purchased yourself, just let us know which suits your project. For background reading on fixture types, see our guide to plumbing fixtures.

Compliance, licensing and the paperwork you receive

Bathroom plumbing in Queensland must be carried out by a licensed plumber and must comply with current Australian plumbing standards. Waterproofing, plumbing and electrical are all regulated trades, and they should not be DIY.

DCM Plumbing is QBCC licensed (licence 1197459), a member of Master Plumbers Queensland, and carries Public Liability cover to $20M. Where notifiable plumbing work has been completed, we provide the appropriate compliance documentation (such as a Form 4 certificate) so your records, and any future buyer’s records, are clean.

If you want a wider plumbing health check before or after the reno, ask about our Gold Coast plumbing inspections.

What affects the cost of a bathroom renovation

Bathroom renovation pricing varies because every project is different. Rather than quote a fixed price online, we provide a tailored quote after assessing the bathroom and understanding your goals, so you know what is included before any work begins.

Bathroom Renovations FAQs

A bathroom renovation plumber handles the plumbing side of the project, which includes tapware, fixtures, toilets, baths, showers, vanities, drainage adjustments, hot and cold water supply, hot water system upgrades, and any waste line relocation needed for a new layout. The plumber is not the builder or designer. We work alongside those trades to deliver the plumbing scope to current Australian standards.

As early as you can. Talking to a bathroom plumber on the Gold Coast in the planning stage helps you avoid layout choices that will not work cleanly with your existing pipework, and lets you pick fixtures that suit your supply and drainage. Bringing a plumber in after tiles are off is workable, but it usually adds time and cost.

Yes. We regularly work alongside builders, designers, tilers, waterproofers and electricians. We are happy to liaise directly with your project lead to keep things on schedule, from rough-in through to final fit-off and testing.

Yes. We handle small bathroom updates as well as full renovations. Whether you need a vanity swap, a new shower mixer, a like-for-like toilet replacement, or a tapware refresh, give us a call and we will book it in.

Usually yes. Toilets, vanities, showers and baths can often be moved, but the work depends on the existing slab or floor, the location of waste pipes and supply lines, and how far the relocation is. We will assess what is possible and recommend the cleanest path before work starts.

The main drivers are the scope (partial vs full), whether plumbing is being relocated, the fixtures and tapware chosen and who supplies them, the age and condition of the existing pipework, access to the work area, and coordination with other trades. We give you a tailored quote after seeing the bathroom and understanding your goals.

It depends on the scope. For a simple fixture or vanity swap, the bathroom may only be out of action for a short period. For a full renovation involving demolition, waterproofing and tiling, the room will usually be unusable until the work is complete. We will let you know up front so you can plan accordingly.

Either works. We can supply fixtures and tapware as part of the project, or we can install items you have purchased yourself. Just let us know which option suits your budget and design preferences when we quote.

For notifiable plumbing work, we provide the appropriate compliance documentation (such as a Form 4 certificate) so you have a clean paper trail for insurance, council and any future property sale. All work is completed by QBCC licensed plumbers and is in line with current Australian plumbing standards.

Yes. Our office is in Burleigh Heads and we service residential and commercial properties across the entire Gold Coast region, north to south.
