Shower Repair
We all take a nice hot shower for granted living in the “Lucky Country” but what if your daily private singing booth has a problem? Luckily most shower repairs can be done quickly and cheaply.
The most common problems are leaking taps and shower heads. These can often be easily fixed by servicing the taps or replacing the shower head.
We also often find the waste pipe in the floor of the shower is blocked and therefore backs up water when the shower is run for any length of time. This can cause water to run out onto the bathroom floor, causing water damage to the ceiling below in multi level buildings.
A quick plunge and some industrial strength drain acid will often be all it takes to clear up this problem. If you’ve tried off the shelf drain cleaning products and haven’t been able to resolve the issue, give us a call and our shower repair experts will have your drain working again in no time.
There are times when you need a plumber for your shower repair
If you suddenly find yourself with a cold shower, this can often be caused by a problem with your hot water heater. Depending on the type of heater, there are various ways to fix this problem. It’s definitely best to call in a plumber to take a look if this is the issue as hot water systems can be tricky and should not be worked on by someone who is not qualified to do so.
We coordinate leaking shower repairs on
the Gold Coast
There is one other problem we see on a regular basis, shower leaks caused by damaged waterproofing. If you have an older shower and start to notice water in an adjoining room or one below, it may be caused by the waterproofing membrane installed when the shower was built to have broken down.
Our Gold Coast plumbers carry out a series of tests to check if your waterproofing has failed, ruling out other possible causes as they go. If your shower waterproofing has failed, there are a number of options depending on budget and severity of the issue. If it’s time to renovate the bathroom, this might be the nudge you’ve been waiting for to get onto that new bathroom project. You’ll need the help of a tiler/waterproofer and plumber to get this work done or possibly even a builder if you’ve decided to change up the room and are not just doing a like for like renovation.
If a full bathroom renovation isn’t on the cards just yet, then there are several companies that can help to reseal your shower so that it’s water tight again.

Leaking shower tap and pipe repair
There is one other issue that can cause quite serious damage if left unattended for any length of time and that’s a leaking shower breach. A shower breach is the pipework inside the wall of your shower that carries the mains and hot water supply to your shower head.
Our Gold Coast plumbers can carry out a pressure test on this breaching piece to test if this has sprung a leak in the wall. Once a leak in this pipework has been established, there are generally two options depending on the layout of the house.
Either remove the tiles from the shower wall to access the pipework, remove the leaking pipework and replace it with new, then retile the small section of shower tiles removed.
Or, if it’s possible, remove a section of wall from behind the shower to access the pipework and replace it from there. This can save you the cost of retiling or trying to match up tiles in your bathroom but unfortunately, is not always possible in every situation.
